How to download Threads media on iPhone
iOS does not let apps save Threads media directly, but Safari handles it well once you know the flow. The whole process takes well under a minute and works the same on iPhone and iPad.
- Open the Threads post in the app or in Safari, tap the share icon (the arrow), and choose Copy link.
- Come back to this page in Safari and paste the link into the box above, then tap the button to load the media.
- Tap Download on the file you want. Safari will ask whether to save it — choose Download again if prompted.
- Find videos and photos in the Photos app, or open the Files app and look in Downloads. From Files you can tap Share to move a clip into Photos.
Optional: a Shortcuts tip
If you save Threads media often, the Shortcuts app can streamline step one. Create a simple Shortcut that accepts a shared URL and opens ThreadsBuddy with it, then add it to your share sheet. This is purely a convenience — the manual steps above need no setup at all.
If a download won't save
- Confirm the post is public — private and login-gated posts cannot be reached on any device.
- Re-copy the link from the post's share menu rather than the address bar.
- Check the Files app's Downloads folder if a video is not in Photos yet.
- Make sure you have a little free storage and a stable connection.
